WordPress plugins

  • Plugins are mini programs that run within WordPress and perform a certain task
  • When you are choosing a plugin, you need to think about:
  • Do you really need the plugin? Is it a must-have? Read the description of the plugin to ensure that it does what is it that you are looking to do
  • Make sure that the plugin is being maintained and works with the latest version of WordPress
  • Look at the ratings of the plugin
  • Look at the notes of the plugin, support materials
  • The number of plugins you should have depends on the goals of your site, what you need to do. There is not a right number but you can definitely have too many
  • Don’t put plugins together, because there are times when the plugsin don’t work well together
  • When you are installing a plugin, make sure you know what it does. After installation is complete, run through some of your pages to make sure it does what it is that you are looking to get done
