This year’s theme centers around breaking the bias towards women and doing everything possible to realize a culture where everyone has the same opportunities. Where all genders are celebrated and encouraged to accomplish their life’s goals.

5 Steps to Empowering Ourselves (And Each Other)

Like a stream uninhibited to flow free, we can change our landscape and inspire growth around us. Here are five fundamental truths shared by Benu during our company event that can inspire women – and men – to believe that we can do anything we put our minds to.   

1. Don’t ask for permission or validation to do the right things

Trust your vision and get out of your own way. If we focus on what matters, and not get distracted by outside perceptions, we break through our own boundaries.

2. Focus on impact and not intention 

Have an eagle’s mentality and soar above the noise. Focus on where you want to go and the impact you want to create. Fly about the obstacles and stay focused on the outcome.   

3. Live in the present

Kids, work, school, finances.  Never let the balancing act of life get in your way. Don’t postpone critical decisions because you think the time is not right or you need acknowledgement. Switch your way of thinking and go for it.  

Get yourself from self-preservation and instant gratification to your inner sage.  

4. Build solid networks and connections  

Create your own internal and external alliances. Surround your career ​and life around people who inspire you to believe that you can do and be anything. Find collaborators and mentors who support a growth mindset. 

5. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem

Differentiate yourself by being a problem solver. No matter your education, experience, or title, forge your path by turning challenges into solutions and knowledge into wisdom. People will embrace this energy and follow.
