Google’s search engine algorithm continues to change. The major search engine has added new ranking factors, universal search channels, and customized results based on location, social circle, and activity. In addition, Google has released algorithm updates, such as Panda, Caffeine, and Penguin updates, that affect all hotels. This presentation will cover the changes in online search – including Google’s Panda, Caffeine, and Penguin updates – and the initiatives necessary for hotels to dominate search engine rankings and stay ahead of the curve.  This presentation will cover all of the following and what hotels need to stay ahead of the curve.

  • Google search updates
  • Social – engagement and freshness
  • Local search optimization
  • Mobile and hyperlocal channels

Well, I would say don’t be afraid of future changes, just develop your site and link building portfolio with quality. Caffeine was a great update too! This summit seems so worth it!

Good post. With all the Google changes the one thing that Hotels will want to do is focus on their content. Google has really shifted hotels to more of a local search. So most hotels need to make sure they are promoting local attractions and events on their website. This will help with ranking on the first couple of pages in their city hotel searches.

I can’t tell when this event is. Was it in October of 2012 or is it upcoming in 2013? Either way I am glad to see this topic being discussed in an open forum for Hotel Marketing.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the note – it was October 2012, and the date has been corrected in the article.

Best Regards,
